(Figma prototype only available on desktop)
Project Overview
Initially a semester-long project created in Figma, this game prototype was meant to give children both entertainment as well as the stepping stones of learning responsibility.
Now, I’ve extended its use into something that could help children to learn to read—a faux book cover. Complete with a front, back, and spine, this book is playful and palatable for children with its bright colors and eye-catching creatures.

This concept was created in order to be appealing to children as well as help teach responsibility in small steps, such as feeding your alien pet, and then implementing that burst of happiness when seeing its level go up. My goal was to make it unique in terms of art style, but representative of other similar games such as Duck Life that have similar play mechanics.

The prototype itself was created in Figma with clickable elements and buttons that mimic how the game is supposed to work. The titles, iconography, and backgrounds were digitally illustrated in Procreate to create a playful, childlike feel.
While the titles are stylistic, the body type is a sans serif so as to appeal to accessible standards as well as creating that classic retro game feel. I chose a bright green as the main color not only because it’s associated with aliens and space, but because it’s more of a calming and welcoming color as opposed to a bright red (which can be associated with danger or aggression.)
